March 20, 2010 - Justin Johnson Gets Spun - Rallies to Finish 6th
South Boston, VA --
For the second time in two races, Justin Johnson led late, but this time was bumped out of contention for the win.
Bucking the trend of the past season, Justin Johnson qualified third going into the first 150 lap race of 2010 at South Boston Speedway. From the early running, it was clear that there were two cars on contention for the win: CE Falk and Justin Johnson.
Through a 90-lap green flag run to start the race, Falk (the pole sitter) pulled out to a sizeable lead. As is tradition, though, Johnson worked his way through lapped traffic to take the lead on lap 125, only to be spun by Falk a lap later.
Despite having to go to the tail of the field, Justin managed to rally, finishing sixth behind winner Tommy Lemons Jr., Lee Pulliam, Stacy Puryear, Deac McCaskill and Rodney Cook. Falk was black-flagged for his rough driving and finished one lap down. This makes two races in a row where Johnson has beaten the first and second place drivers in Virginia for 2009.
Justin will take the week off for the weekend of Martinsville, then return to Motor Mile Speedawy for his first race there in two years.
