July 10, 2010 - Johnson Takes Another at Motor Mile

Radford, VA --

With South Boston Speedway taking the night off, it was time for another trip up to Motor Mile Speedway for 2009 SoBo track champion Justin Johnson.

Having practiced well all weekend, Johnson was confident his car would qualify well. A starting spot on the outside of Row 1 would verify those thoughts, as the FDJ Motorsports machine started on the outside of Motor Mile Speedway regular Tommy Lemons Jr.

Early on it was Lemons setting the pace, while Johnson followed. Johnson made a mid-race challenge for the lead on Lap 70, but had that move blocked by Lemons. It would be another 30 laps until Johnson made another move for the lead, this time on Lap 103. This move would prove to be successful, and Johnson would lead the majority of the laps from there out.

A late caution with Lemons in front by a nose led to a restart with Lemons first and Johnson second. Johnson would ride behind Lemons for the majority of the final 9 green flag laps. Johnson would make one final charge under Lemons, and as the duo came off turn 4, contact was made, and both Lemons and Johnson crossed the line almost attached, with Johnson getting the advantage at the end. Lemons Jr. would cross second by hundredths of a second, with Mike Looney third, Derrick Lancaster fourth and Nate Monteith fifth.

Justin Johnson returns to defend his 2009 track championship in the Puryear Tank Lines Toyota this Saturday night at South Boston Speedway in a twin-75 lap showdown against contenders Deac McCaskill and Stacy Puryear.
